We trusted the social media posts as first timers trusting open runs, lodge photos, etc. with piped in snow since it hadn’t snowed since November and we had an absolute blast!

Everything is all in one place. Food, rentals, the lodge. Lindsay from the front booked us and checked us in and she was wonderful as was all the staff. Legends for dinner was a hit and the waiters were super helpful in telling us about the open runs and lifts and how to navigate the backside… highly recommend.

If you’re new to ski, I would say wait for some good snowfall so it’s fluffier/more powder but fantastic trip!

Angel Fire Resort offers a unique guided hunting experience, especially with the novelty of using ski lifts to access hunting grounds in the off-season. As a first-time hunter here, I found the initial thrill enjoyable, and the stunning scenery—accentuated by fresh snowfall—created an unforgettable atmosphere. My guide, Josh, was excellent: knowledgeable, personable, and committed to making the experience as fulfilling as possible. The accommodations were exceptional, with the Reveal House scoring a solid 10/10. It’s beautifully equipped with high-end amenities, a fully stocked kitchen, and even included two hosted dinners during the five-night stay and a $150 gift card to the resort’s gift shop.

While the hunt itself was enjoyable, the restrictions set by Angel Fire’s corporate management did limit the experience. Throughout the hunt, I noticed that the elk tended to stay in areas that were safe and legally huntable but, due to corporate policies, were off-limits. These restrictions, which were not related to safety, felt arbitrary and disappointing. I fully support any rule ensuring hunter safety, but these limitations didn’t enhance the hunt and instead often led to the frustration of spotting elk in places we weren’t allowed to pursue due to internal policies.

Overall, Angel Fire Resort offers a little bit of everything, and the potential here is clear. However, by trying to cover so many experiences, the hunting aspect feels somewhat diluted. With adjustments to these corporate restrictions, I believe Angel Fire could become an outstanding hunting destination. Right now, I’d rate the experience around 3.5 out of 5 stars, with hope that future hunts might bring a more focused and unrestricted approach. For those considering a trip, I’d recommend it for the setting and the comfort of the accommodations but with an understanding of the current limitations in the hunt itself.

Took the scenic chair lift. Incredible views! Ate a turkey sandwich at Cafe at top of mountain. Very good and fresh! Can't believe for $22.50, you can only ride once. Good restrooms!

I had a great time here in early March, despite heavy wind and thin snow coverage for what I'm used to. I never waited in line longer than 2 mins for a lift. The lifts were comfortable and everyone on them was very friendly and happy. The food selection was decent on the slopes and the views were great. And the hill had enough variety of terrain that I didn't get bored at all. I would definitely come back!

Beautiful place. Awesome bike park. Great options for lodging. Getting food can be a challenge with weird times for some restaurants.

I'm not a skier, but even in the spring this is a super beautiful venue to visit, and take the ski lift up to the top! Spectacular views, lots of mountain bikers if that's your thing. You can hike around at the top, get some fresh mountain air! Nice little town, quick ride from Taos
