It is in a small and nice town. Pretty high, it has 580 stairs. So it takes time and effort to go up. But on the way, you can make stops and enjoy the construction of the bell ringing system. You can touch the bells even. Also, you can see how the big clock is looking from inside 😍 from the top an amazing view over "half of Belgium."... joking ☺️ but you have a view at Brussels and Antwerp 👌

Very interesting tour, great to know the nick name of Mechelen people and the story. The AR equipment is temporary out of use in the ash room ,and one of the virtual telescope to south side is also down.

Tower itself is taller than Belfort in Brugge, and you shouln't waste time in queue to get inside, also it's very beautiful and has a carillon. The price is only 8€. But views from the observation deck are restricted and you can't take a look straight down

Take the time to go up the 500+ steps. It's a wonderful trip down history. There are details on every floor to read and take the booklet when you first arrive for more fun history details. And win-win: the way up is different than the way down, so you won't trip on people going in the other direction. The view on the top is superb!

Climbing the 538 steps reveals original 15th-century construction marks on the interior bricks. The carillon mechanism plays every 15 minutes - the 49 bells were cast using a 1660s alloy formula. The panoramic view shows why this was Flanders' most important watchtower.

You have to pay to go up the 97.5 meter high tower, but visiting the cathedral itself is free and there is much to see believe me.

This attraction is overrated. Tower is too high to see anything beautiful. Red roofs, forests. Completely flat and boring landscape. Floor at the top of the tower is made of glass. You need to be really attentive in the wet weather not to fall down on the slippery glass. Ah! That black drop far-far away is Atomium in Brussels! Wow, really? What a surprise. Belgians try to sell their "gems" to tourists and invent lots of surprising stories about their quite average monuments.

It is a beautiful monument with incredible stained glass and an impressive pulpit. Several steps lead up to the monument. However, it is worth seeing all the bells and enjoying the view from the top.
